chicken chow mein
Chow mein is a Chinese dish and which has become a prominent part of cuisine in many countries America, Philippine, Canada, Germany, India, Pakistan and many many more countries.
it is known as cap cai and mainly made of vegetables but some countries do have chicken touch in there as well, just like we are going to share today.
Chow mein consists of elbow macaroni and bits of cooked ground beef with sautéed onions and green peppers in a thick tomato-based sauce.
Today we are going to share chicken chow mein, hope you will like it.
Ingredients:
1: Noodles 225g
2: Oil 4tbs
3: Red chilli powder 1tbs
4: Chicken breast bonless (cut in half inch strips)
5: Groundnut oil 2 tbs
6: Garlic paste 1 ts
7: Soy sauce 2ts
8: Salt to taste
9: Sugar 1/2 ts
10: Onions 1 medium (finely chopped)
11: Black pepper 1ts
12: Red pepper half (cut in half inch slices)
13: Green pepper half (cut in half inch slices)
14: Lemon juice 1ts
15: Tomato 2 medium
Method:
Cook the noodles in a large pan of boiling water 3 -5 minutes, then drain and plunge them into cold water. Drain thoroughly,
toss them with three teaspoons of the sesame oil and set aside.
you will need a non stick pan to make sauce, put the oil in the pan and heat for about 1 minute,
put the onions in and cook on medium till transparent then add red chilli powder and cook on low to medium for about 3 minutes,
add groundnut oil, garlic paste, salt, sugar, black pepper, lemon juice and tomato cook for about 3 minutes (if you need to you can add small amount of water)
add chicken and cover the pot with a lid, let it cooked for about 5 minutes on low gas,
Add red pepper and green pepper let it cook on low to medium for 10 minutes
add noodles, soya sauce, groundnut oil and mix well, let it cook for about 5 minutes.
