Sharbat (syrup) is made by preparing the decoction or infusion of the ingredient drugs or by taking the juice of the fruit, which is then mixed with sugar and boiled to a required consistency (2). The invention of Sharbat is attributed to Pythagoras (an ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician)

sugar

The remaining pulp of the fruits will still have some juice left. So drain that valuable juice as much as you can, helping by pressing with a back of a wooden spoon and add the juice back to the pan.

Turn off the heat and pour the sherbet into a pitcher and let it completely cool down.

Best Sweet and Spooky Halloween Cake [An old English tradition]

Best Sweet and Spooky Halloween Cake [An old English tradition]

Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.

This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

The word Halloween or Hallowe'en dates to about 1745[32] and is of Christian origin.[33] The word Hallowe'en means "Saints' evening".[34] It comes from a Scottish term for All Hallows' Eve (the evening before All Hallows' Day).[35] In Scots, the word eve is even, and this is contracted to e'en or een.[36] Over time, (All) Hallow(s) E(v)en evolved into Hallowe'en. Although the phrase "All Hallows'" is found in Old English, "All Hallows' Eve" is itself not seen until 155.

All Souls Day and Soul Cakes

The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. The practice, which was referred to as “going a-souling,” was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighborhood and be given ale, food and money. Soul cakes are an old English traditional cake, sometimes known simply as ‘souls’. The tradition of giving out soul cakes on All Hallows’ Eve dates back to the Middle Ages, when children went door-to-door saying prayers for the dead On All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, children went ‘souling’, asking for soul cakes from house to house: quite possibly a precursor to trick or treating.

most delicious spicey mutton soup recipe in the World

 mutton soup

Despite its wide popularity in Maritime Southeast Asia, the question of origin however, might be owed to the Arabs and Muslim Indian migrations into the region. Sup kambing is believed to be of Arab origin, brought by the influx of Arabs migrants into the Malay Archipelago between the 18th to 19th century, during colonial era. The Arabs settlers introduced and promoted goat, lamb and mutton as their preferred meat, thus several dishes influenced by Arab and Muslim Indian culinary traditions were introduced to Sumatra, Malay peninsula and Java. Around the same period, other mutton or goat-based dishes such as sate kambing, gulai kambing and tongseng also appeared in
The early Arab immigrants settled in coastal towns of Sumatra and Java, and subsequently influenced the culture of native ethnic groups including Malays, the Betawis of Batavia (Jakarta), also Javanese and Madurese of East Java. The sup kambing was adopted by locals, and often linked to the Islamic festival of kurban (Eid al-Adha), where large numbers of cattle – including goats, are slaughtered and distributed among people. As the result, despite its Arab origin, today in Indonesia sup kambing is more associated with Malay, Madurese, and Betawi cuisine. Indonesian sup kambing uses carrot, tomato, and sometimes potato, which hints its European (possibly Portuguese or Dutch) influences. Tomato and potato are not available in Southeast Asia until European colonials brought them from the Americas around the 17th century. The sup kambing from Medan in North Sumatra however, is closer to the Malaysian version, since they commonly derived from Muslim Indian culture.

Fingerlicious BBQ and Baking outdoor on coal and wood burning Oven UK

BBQ and Baking outdoor on coal and wood burning Oven UK

 Who invented BBQ

For succulent results every time, nothing is more crucial than understanding the science behind the interaction of food, fire, heat, and smoke. Lockhart, Texas has plenty of reasons to feel proud. With its unique collection of 19th-century buildings, it is one of the prettiest towns in Caldwell County – and a favourite of Hollywood producers. More than 50 films have been made there, from Baby, the Rain Must Fall (1968), starring Steve McQueen and Lee Remick, to Clint Eastwood’s acclaimed drama A Perfect World (1993). But what really makes locals puff out their chests is the barbecue. Ever since Jesse Swearingen opened Lockhart’s first meat market in 1875, the town has been famous for its barbecued beef and sausages, usually served with saltine crackers, onions and pickles. Every year, its four restaurants welcome more than 250,000 diners from around the world; and in 1999, Lockhart was officially named the ‘Barbecue Capital of Texas’.

Baking in ancient times
The world's oldest oven was discovered in Croatia in 2014 dating back 6500 years ago. The Ancient Egyptians baked bread using yeast, which they had previously been using to brew beer. Bread baking began in Ancient Greece around 600 BC, leading to the invention of enclosed ovens.

Who invented corn on the cob?
It was first cultivated 9,000 years ago in present-day southern Mexico and Central America. After the American Revolution, as settlers moved west into the Ohio River Valley, the Northerners brought with them their Northern Flint, while the Southerners brought Southern Dent.

Hotdog history:
It is believed that the first hot dogs, called “dachshund sausages”, were sold by a German immigrant out of a food cart in New York in the 1860s – perhaps explaining how they acquired their canine name. Around 1870, a German immigrant by the name of Charles Feltman opened the first hot dog stand on Coney Island.

Indian farmers remain defiant, a year after ‘black laws’ passed New Delhi, India – They have been hit by bad weather, hot and cold days, covid19 and most of all away from cosiness of home. They are on the streets. The nearby drains, overflowing with overnight monsoon rains, stinks. A few metres away, pigs rummage through the rubbish. But the weather or stink does not dissuade our Bapu te Bebe, who have been protesting for nearly 10 months against a set of agricultural laws passed by Modi’s government in September last year. Let's join them on every forum, let's join them every social media, let's show them that we are with them in every country, evry city, every village, and on every street, every house. We are all with them, we are all farners, we are all Punjabis.
